I’ve been quiet as I’ve had my head down and studying for a final exam. Well, guess what?!
IT’S OVER!! I’M DONE WITH MY FIRST YEAR OF NUTRITION SCHOOL! 1 down, 2 to go. But I’m not even thinking about that now coz SCHOOL’S OUT!!! :))))
Yeeharrrrr! …And now I’m off for 2 weeks of sun and sea. Going on an ashtanga yoga and pranayama retreat with my teacher, Paul Dallaghan on Koh Samui. Wasn’t planning on blogging while I’m away, but who knows… his retreat makes amazingly awesome food. Half-raw, half-cooked, totally unprocessed, vegetarian and clean. Last year when I was there, I did their 7-day fasting detox (uh-huh, daily enemas and colonics, peeps!) but not sure if I’ll do another one this time. I know they do cooking classes too, maybe I’ll see if the chef will do any raw food classes as I’m currently most interested in that.
I’ll definitely be posting Instagram pictures of their daily menu. My Instagram feed is at the bottom of this page so you can follow me there. But if you’re not on it, don’t worry – I’ll do a summary on this blog after the trip.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a snapshot of my holiday reading list. Of course there are books on food. And the other books are of/by smart women and how they run/ ran their work and lives. It’s a tad ambitious that I’ll get through all 5 books, but hey… in between the yoga and pranayama, I’m planning on getting loads of beach action.
As I still have to pack and have no time to go into the details of each book, I’ll add their Amazon links so if you’re interested, you can click on each book picture for its synopsis, review and purchase.
Book #1: Michael Pollan, “Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation”
(My personal hero)
I’m just sooooooo happy that I can finally read something other than school books now… Even though 3 out of the 5 books are kinda sorta school-related. What can I say? I have a thing for food and nutrition!
OK, I’m off. See ya, suckas! Back in 2 weeks. :)))))))
