Watch These Too:

For a deeper dive into how you can create healthy habits and stick to them, you might like to watch this previous video for my 6 tips. Use these 6 tips together with this one tip I’ll share with you today and you’ll be getting back to keeping up with a daily movement ritual in no time!

So… if you’ve been feeling particularly unmotivated with a lack of energy, you know that you need to keep your body moving - moving, exercising, keeping fit… all of it actually helps bring you MORE energy. So where are you going to find this magical motivation?

Behaviour Research Says

According to behavioural research, and I love the work of James Clear - If you can’t get motivated in the beginning, then you’ll find that motivation often comes after starting. So very simply: JUST START.

OK, the end, see you. Bye!

Just kidding.

But seriously - this is that one tip: Simply starting and taking that FIRST STEP is all you’ll need to get the motivation ball rolling.

Wanna wake up early to train?

  • Get out of bed when the alarm rings, rather than snoozing.

  • Put on your trainers and open the door.

  • Lay your workout clothes out the night before.

What are the smallest, simplest things you can do to help you simply take that first step, or that next step?

Any time you find any mental resistance… perhaps ask yourself “what do I need to do now to JUST START?” ...then don’t overthink it, just do it.

Have you been trying to get motivated to keep to a more regular fitness routine? Share what that is in the comments below and the rest of us are here to keep you accountable!

Trust In the Process

Trust in the process that the more often you start, or the more often you do the behaviour - let’s say it’s a daily 5-minute workout - the more motivated you’ll be to continue doing it. And that’s how you start to create that healthy habit, when it becomes that small, daily ritual.

Bigger is NOT Better

And it’s really as simple as that. Too often as high achievers, we might start to feel like “bigger is better” or “more is better”... but if starting with a daily one-hour workout or yoga practice is too much of a stretch right now for you, especially if you haven’t been working out for a while now, then start with just 5 minutes.

Because honestly - if you can’t even manage 5 minutes a day, how are you going to manage an hour a day?

The Workbook to Help You

If you wanna take this further, I’ve got a 9-page workbook you can download which will help you create time in your busy day to do the things that matter.

It’ll take you through the practical steps of how you can prioritise what’s important and how to schedule them to make it happen - including your daily workouts. Maybe even breaking down your workouts into 5-minute intervals throughout your day!

You can also check this previous video for 6 more tips on how to create healthy habits and stick to them, or this video for 3 of the best exercises for stress relief - especially if you’re going through a particularly anxious, tense time right now - cardio and extreme HIIT trainings are not gonna help support you. I’ve got better suggestions in that video.

What’s Next?

Stay tuned for my next video where I’ll talk about why motivation alone will fail you, and what other systems you’ll need to put in place to help you take those first steps you make like we talked about today on just starting - and turn them into your daily rituals and habits.

If you enjoyed this video, please give it a like, and check out my other videos for more nutrition, fitness and lifestyle tips on how to flow through your busy life with more grace, ease and flow, and I’ll see you in the next one!
